Reviews for Grisaia no Rakuen -LE EDEN DE LA GRISAIA- (2024)

<report>It's hard to think of Eden as anything other than a trashy action harem fanfiction loosely based on the stories told in Fruit and Labyrinth. It almost entirely lacks the charm and the gravity that made the original Grisaia so endearing, and it's mostly carried through its mediocrity by the fact that those of us who've made it this far have a lot of pre-existing affection for the characters. Eden does manage to answer a few of the big questions the earlier Grisaia titles left us with, but part of me feels like I appreciated Grisaia more before I'd read Eden and gotten the whacky answers to those questions.

I won't say don't read Eden; just because it's trashy doesn't mean it wasn't fun in its own way. Just don't expect it to capture the magic of the original game.

<report>This is kinda hard to rate tbh, there are many things I adore, and there are also many that I don't.

Let's get the negative out of the way first.

Plot-wise the story start to implement tons of sci-fi element and very suddenly too, make it feel jarring and inconsistent with the world setting. The booster drug from the first game was like ok as a sci-fi-ish element but in this game just really get out of hand.

Even though this route is technically all about Yuuji's past catching up with him, he likes to have like 20% of the screen time at most. His interaction with the girls is minimum (and even in the after story, it is not that much***)

There are lots of action sequences, and when I say... Read more »

<report>Grisaia no Rakuen provides a satisfying conclusion to the Grisaia trilogy, but is an unfortunately poor stand alone entry in the saga.
If you are familiar with the trilogy, you are probably aware of the D-List movie Sci-Fi tropes that Rakuen is often critiqued for; rather than reiterate on their poor implementation, I am going to talk about the other major reasons I did not like Rakuen whilst also briefly touching on this entry's positives.

Rakuen's pacing is mired down by its attempt to condense 3 things into a confusingly short scenario, those being; the main heroines' journey towards self determination, a climactic sequence where they rescue Yuuji and Yuuji confronting his past... Read more »

<report>The main question here - is this trilogy worth reading? Each installment isn't short after all. My answer for this is to read the first game because it also works as a standalone. If the reader enjoys the first game, they will enjoy the sequels. If not, they can move on and save a lot of time.

Now with that said, on to the last episode.

While still entertaining and fun to read, it is the weaker of the three and a bit inconsistent.

The final portions of the story are strange to put it lightly, to the point where even the protagonist gets the option of saying something along the lines of 'shut the hell up, I don't care anymore' as a choice option, which made me laugh at the time like the... Read more »

<report>The last portion of the Grisaia trilogy, revolving around Yuuji. The past that haunts Yuuji will have to be overcome, and everyone with their own plans will converge into a single point. It’s a non-stop train, so I never find any good spots to stop reading and save. If you read the previous two, this is a must-read for the conclusion to it. There are no choices at all really.

<report>The scifi element with heath oslo almost singlehandedly killed this vn for me. It made zero fucking sense and came way too abruptly. It fucking sucks. other than that this is a satisfying end to the great Grisaia trilogy and a must read for anyone that finished Labyrinth (I can't imagine anyone that wouldn't since that ended on a cliffhanger)

<report>This is it. This is the grisaia game to tie up loose ends. what this essentially achieves is based on the cliffhanger of labyrinth of grisaia, It continues it and just finishes the game off. It's end, is imo. quite whack, but good fun nonetheless. This is a must play if you really like fruits of grisaia and want to finish the series off.

<report>I will say I don't want to give any spoilers as this is the third in a trilogy of visual novels, The order fo the Grisaia trilogy for me is Fruit of Grisaia, then Labrynth and finally Eden. In no means did I not enjoy Eden of Grisaia.

Starting with the Seed of Blanc Aile the main story I think somethings are very oddly put together I very much feel this doesnt feel like a true ending of Grisaia but more a fan service ending that is all about bombastic setpieces and thrills, with some strong character work also. I will say my favorite Grisaia character is very prevalent in this visual novel so that is great to start off with.
The story kinda works similar to a heist type movie and thats... Read more »

<report>I have a love-hate relationship with the Grisaia series. When it is good, it is excellent. But when it's bad... Yeah, I had to ignore a lot of things to keep enjoying it. However, with this ending, the balance was fortunately quite positive.

I think the apex of Grisaia is in the girls. But I don't mean that in terms of their appearance or in the fan service. But in terms of their personalities and friendship. It is funny to say this because I remember when I started the first Grisaia a few years ago, I found them all annoying. After reading it for so long, I have become very attached to them. They are very captivating and have a dynamic that is always fun to follow.

They are so good! I... Read more »
